IMAGINiT Pulse increases business critical data sharing

November 13, 2018 By Leslie Langnau Leave a Comment

Developed to overcome data workflow challenges facing design and manufacturing engineers and architects, IMAGINiT Pulse now offers more integrations with multiple business systems and software platforms as well as support for the Autodesk Vault 2019 product release. Visitors to IMAGINiT at Autodesk University (AU) 2018 in Las Vegas, NV will see first-hand how they can use Pulse to connect engineering data to other business systems.

“Customers who use IMAGINiT Pulse experience more efficient and collaborative design workflows due to a reduction in errors that normally stem from the manual re-entry of data between disparate business systems,” says Scott Hale, vice president of professional services, IMAGINiT Technologies. “Our team has designed integrations that enable the sharing of data between design engineering software and other enterprise-wide, mission-critical software platforms. IMAGINiT Pulse creates an environment where teams can work with confidence knowing that the data they are working with is the most up-to-date and accurate regardless of where it originated.”

Key New Features

IMAGINiT Pulse enables organizations to integrate different types of business applications independent of platform, programming language, or API. Key new features include:

Increased Integrations with Business Systems such as enterprise resource planning (ERP), customer relationship management (CRM), computerized maintenance management (CMMS), and product lifecycle management (PLM) systems, allow increased data sharing with design engineering tools ensuring downstream data integrity.
New Connectors for Autodesk Vault 2019 automatically flow information from one software program such as Autodesk Fusion Lifecycle to the latest version of Autodesk Vault.

Enhanced User Role Definition gives administrators the ability to set different levels of permissions for individual team members based on their specific role in the project including access to connection settings, workflows and data transformation scripts.
A Comprehensive Library of Connectors allows users to transfer key data between Vault, Fusion Lifecycle, Autodesk BIM 360 Ops, and BuildingLink. Based on unique client needs, IMAGINiT experts have built additional connectors for other systems including ERP (such as NetSuite), CRM (such as Salesforce.com), Intranets (such as SharePoint), and more.

Utilities for Autodesk software

July 25, 2018 By Leslie Langnau Leave a Comment

IMAGINiT Technologies’ customers who subscribe to Autodesk software have complimentary access to several new IMAGINiT Utilities for Autodesk Revit, Autodesk AutoCAD Civil 3D and Autodesk Vault Client. With more than 40 individual IMAGINiT utilities now available, building information modeling (BIM) coordinators and computer aided design (CAD) managers can increase team efficiencies and reduce human error by automating redundancies.

“IMAGINiT utilities extend the power of your Autodesk software, and each year, our development team releases new utilities to ensure customers spend their time focused on the design process instead of manual tasks,” says Bill Zavadil, senior vice president of professional services, IMAGINiT Technologies. “Our utilities aim to automate those time consuming, manual tasks, thereby freeing up design teams so that they can accomplish more in less time.”

IMAGINiT Utilities for Autodesk Revit

Now with 27 tools that run directly inside Revit software, IMAGINiT Utilities for Revit include three new utilities.

New Utilities for Revit 2019 include:

Annotation Font Update scans the model for all font references and, through an easy-to-use wizard, allows users to update fonts throughout the entire model.

Family Placement looks at families that are in a folder structure and – with just a few clicks – allows users to load and place them so they are available in the current model. Running as a Palette inside Revit, it is available to users whenever needed.

Shared Parameter Check scans your model for the shared parameters that should be migrated to your centralized file or for inconsistent shared parameter identifiers and type/instance settings.

IMAGINiT Utilities for AutoCAD Civil 3D

With the addition of this latest tool, IMAGINiT Utilities for Civil 3D now includes a total of 10 tools designed to help BIM coordinators, infrastructure project managers and CAD champions to increase collaboration by leveraging new design workflows.

KML/KMZ Import brings geometry from Google Earth/Google Maps into the model allowing the creation of new workflows and collaboration with individuals who do not need access to Civil 3D. Individuals can mark out areas for development in Google Earth/Google Maps and engineers can import the KML file into Civil 3D to create a baseline for the design.

IMAGINiT Utilities for Autodesk Vault Client

IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client help CAD managers and non-CAD users better manage data workflows. New tools for 2019 are:

Create Local Folders allows users to generate folders in their Windows working folder hierarchy to match the Vault folders.

Visual Lifecycle Tab provides a visual description of the current file’s lifecycle definition, including its current state as well as the available transitions to other states.

Link Generator easily sends information to others by retrieving links to the Vault Thin Client for selected items or files.

Auto-Update Folder Properties to File offers a way to quickly synchronize properties applied at the folder level to corresponding properties at the file level.

IMAGINiT Utilities Availability

IMAGINiT Utilities for Revit, IMAGINiT Utilities for AutoCAD Civil 3D and IMAGINiT Utilities for Vault Client are available to customers maintaining their annual Autodesk subscription through IMAGINiT. These free software utilities can be accessed via IMAGINiT’s ProductivityNOW Portal. Those who are not already IMAGINiT customers may purchase these utilities directly from the IMAGINiT eStore.

Video: Data Management Best Practices to Avoid Rework on Shop Floor

February 23, 2015 By Barb Schmitz Leave a Comment

Manufacturers are always looking out for ways to work more efficiently, reducing the amount of scrap and rework required to produce products. The reality is that the best way to accomplish these goals starts upstream in the product development process.

Caleb Funk, Manufacturing Solutions Team Manager from IMAGINiT Technologies, shares leading data management practices used by successful manufacturers in this video. Downstream, these practices help to avoid costly scrap and rework on the shop floor.

Successful manufacturers establish and define good data management practices by:
* Establishing rules for creating, routing and revising design documents.
* Developing and adhering religiously to styles and generating their own corporate libraries to ensure consistency across drawings

These things alone will cut down misunderstandings that lead to time delays and costly rework and scrap. In order to catalogue and protect intellectual property, however, manufacturers need to invest in a data management system that sits on top of their 3D design software and organizes parts and assemblies so that existing information can easily be reused and the latest version easily identified.

In addition, manufacturers should look beyond software for efficiencies and not assume that software alone can solve all problems. They must examine the bottlenecks and create workflows that eliminate them. Take advantage of process automation to speed things up and improve accuracy.

Errors can be reduced by ensuring upstream and downstream systems are integrated with engineering software. Sales systems should feed engineering with final order details, informing purchasing at the same time. Similarly engineering should be integrated directly with the CAM systems on the shop floor. When engineering releases the final design, everyone works with the same information and there will be no nasty surprises coming off the line.

A central location for all design data enables the tracking of versions and revisions and ensures that everyone is working off of the latest data sets. Once standardized, manufacturers can create the rules for creating, routing and revising documents. These rules will help keep teams and projects on track.
