Elysium to launch 3DxSUITE in Spring 2021

September 30, 2020 By WTWH Editor Leave a Comment

Global interoperability solutions provider, Elysium, is developing a new consolidated interoperability platform scheduled for release in the spring of 2021. The 3DxSUITE will enable users to customize and integrate Elysium’s data solutions into automated quality and compliance-checking systems best suited to their operational needs.

Flexibility and openness support digital end-to-end processes for MBE and the 3D-Master
“For almost 30 years, we have been creating a variety of packaged software products based on our unique 3D data-processing technology,” says Atsuto Soma, CTO of Elysium. “Now, we are transforming our existing technology into a new platform that can more flexibly meet the demand for greater industry automation and inter-connectivity between CAD data resources and downstream manufacturing processes.

“3DxSUITE truly embodies the ‘interoperability’ that Elysium has set as its business concept since its foundation,” says Soma. “Companies that use 3D to design and manufacture products should not be tied to a specific authoring system or set of tools, but rather transcend the barriers between companies and organizations, creating the ideal manufacturing processes that connect all kinds of information, systems, equipment and people.”

Accelerating the digital transformation of manufacturing
In recent years, as digital transformation has progressed across many industries, manufacturing companies have increasingly relied on streamlined 3D data to optimize their supply chains.
“With advanced IT solutions now available, such as cloud applications and web-based portal communications, manufacturers using a variety of CAD software and PLM (Product Lifecycle Management) systems will be able to more broadly and deeply employ Elysium’s new platform to fully utilize their 3D digital engineering data,” Soma says. “This will facilitate the transformational changes now taking place globally and promote business growth.”

Modularity, usability and mobility
Elysium has developed a full spectrum of digital technologies—such as data translation, verification including PDQ (Product Data Quality), validation, optimization including geometry simplification and data repurposing, and even packaging of 3D and supplemental data—and incorporated these into the desktop application CADdoctor; the enterprise solution, ASFALIS; and the foundational data-translation tool, DirectTranslator.

On the upcoming interoperability platform, 3DxSUITE, users will not be limited to any specific configuration of Elysium products, or any particular CAD system or data format. They will be free to pick the manual or automated data solutions that best fit their individual needs with regard to design tools, manufacturing processes, operational systems, etc.

Companies can use the new platform to construct a centralized system that allows them to easily select, combine and integrate modularized functions and usage. This ability will save companies handling 3D engineering data significant time and costs in their model-based and digitalization efforts, and improve supply-chain integration and productivity.

Supporting the evolution of the digital environment
“One of the greatest advantages of this software consolidation is the ease by which customers can start incorporating their first priorities, whether small-scale or large-scale,” says Annalise Suzuki, North American VP of Technology & Engagement for Elysium. “When it comes to MBE initiatives, it’s not reasonable to seek a radical change overnight. MBD/MBE is a long-term, evolving roadmap as cultures, tools, standards and processes improve. The 3DxSUITE is most accommodating when it comes to supporting such an evolving shift—whether it be adding capabilities over time, expanding use cases, or changing out 3D formats.

“From a value perspective, 3DxSUITE is a single-point solution—a single architecture for upgrading a CAD system and outgoing data across multiple vendors and into set production and delivery schedules. It maximizes throughputs, but minimizes overhead for implementation, integration, configuration, upgrades, and long-term support,” says Suzuki.

Quality Information Framework (QIF) for translation and validation to/from CAD

October 14, 2019 By WTWH Editor Leave a Comment

Elysium, a world leader in 3D-geometry handling, interoperability, data translation and quality-checking software, will release a solution for multi-CAD to/from QIF for translation and validation between users. The added capability will be part of the new release of ASFALIS software planned for early 2020.

A Quality Information Framework (QIF) is an XML architecture that defines, organizes, and associates quality information needed in manufacturing systems. With the rising demand for digital data utilization throughout the entire supply chain, and specifically within the measurement-and-inspection stage, QIF was created by DMSC, accredited by ANSI, to address pressing industry requirements.

The new solution will semantically connect the design, manufacturing and inspection phases and streamline design to inspection and quality management workflow. With this capability, users will be able to translate CAD geometry and Product Manufacturing Information (PMI) to QIF and import high-quality data to QIF-supported metrology software and hardware.

In addition, Elysium will offer advanced solutions such as:

* Validation between native CAD data and translated QIF data

* Validation between original QIF data and QIF data after editing

* Translation from edited QIF to CAD

“We’re providing a sensible solution for streamlining the manufacturing process by supporting the QIF lead taken by DMSC, where Elysium has a strong presence,” said Atsuto Soma, CTO at Elysium. “With translation tools between multi-CAD and QIF not yet widely developed in industry, manufacturers throughout the world have high expectations for a forthcoming solution. Elysium has advanced its geometry handling and CAD translation technologies significantly over the years—while continually strengthening genuine partnerships with major CAD vendors. Elysium hopes to better enable manufacturers in their Model-Based Definition and Enterprise (MBD/E) initiatives through its on-going support of QIF translation and validation.”

Software that fits the need

January 11, 2012 By Laura Carrabine Leave a Comment

Common scenario: An aerospace supplier is requested to provide a CAD model of a hydraulic system to its customer. Historically, after the appropriate paperwork has been completed, an IGES or STEP file is generated by the data management group, and the file is sent on its way to the customer.

The problem: The supplier has provided their customer with their intellectual property from the result of many hours of engineering, design, and analysis. Should another supplier happen upon these files, it will learn much about the product which their competition is proposing. In the electronic world in which we live, collaboration is very convenient. Unfortunately, this means we must be much more careful with the data we share and how we share it.

Solution: Elysium CADdoctor offers a way in which you can protect your intellectual property, allowing you to share only the data you want to share. With CADdoctor’s enveloping functionality, you can:

Provide only the external profile [envelope] of the component or assembly you plan to share. Remove all unnecessary parts from your assembly / product structure. Be secure with the data you share.

Elysium to Release New NXdoctor Product Data Quality Tool

April 6, 2010 By Laura Carrabine Leave a Comment

Elysium Inc. today announced the upcoming (April 9) release of NXdoctor, a Product Data Quality (PDQ) validation/repair tool specifically created for Siemens NX users.

NXdoctor, a Siemens NX plug-in, validates and repairs 3D CAD data and can be customized by OEMs to create a single standard across their manufacturing supply chain. Nissan Motor Company, for example, has adopted customized PDQ guidelines in NXdoctor to assure correct data for any subsequent 3D use scenario.

The automobile manufacturer’s PDQ criteria dictate a unique 3D data control checklist for itself and for suppliers. NXdoctor enables both Nissan and those who work with the company to validate and secure the quality of all sent and received CAD data pertaining to product design and development. The software allows users to check 3D data directly from within Siemens NX in accordance with Nissan’s strict specifications.  Data meeting these requirements is validated by an encrypted authentication key.

Features of the new general release of NXdoctor include:

PDQ Validation of 27 critical check items and thresholds using ‘Check-Mate,’ which provides the same high level of accuracy as Elysium’s CADdoctor.

Healing using the ‘Full B-Rep Repair’ (automatic healing of the whole model) or ‘Repair with History’ (PMI and attribute information is stored and only sections with PDQ errors are repaired) option.

Input and output Elysium Neutral File (ENF) allowing NXdoctor repair results to be used freely on CADdoctor or ASFALIS.
